Mazi Odera POg goes on for Boxing Day 26/12/18.
Today is Boxing day, but alien to Nigerian culture and context.
Once it is spelt like the usual Roforofo we are used to, many think Boxing day is a day to fight, which is not..
Boxing day is a dedicated day to exchange Gifts, especially in a Civilized world where Families erect Christmas Trees, under the tree they place Boxes wrapped with Names of the owner, some will be there over a Month but nobody will even peak talk less of opening it until the BOXING DAY, when everybody will gather round the tree and open his Box with excitement.
Back in Nigeria, if you dare Have such a tree and wrap Boxes, place same under any tree , you will be surprise that many of them will be stolen or somebody will wake up at night and remove all the original content and reclose them or Thieves will come into the house and steal them all, showing that something is seriously wrong with us as black people.
We don't even have spirit of giving, everybody wants to receive monetary gift, none wants Christmas or New Year Card or Flowers.
Even those that expects you to give them gift, cannot afford to give you Card in return or lieu, just ikwata UKWA na osisi Ukpaka.
Anyway, munwa bu Pen of the gods (Mkpisi Ndi Egede) will tell us that it is good we don't observe Boxing day, for had we indulge, that day some ga ekechi Eko Afo, Ukwara Nta, Ekpenta, Aruru afo, Enyi Ule, Okiri Mgbawa Isi, Isi Anya eke (Some will package in a Gift Box and place in readiness for the recipient.. Chronic Ulcer, whooping Cough, leprosy, Stomach discomfort, Rotten Leg, Head splitting ache, partial blindness), and after the Family may have joyfully opened the Boxes, you start hearing sorrows of Ken.
As others celebrate Boxing day, let's celebrate Sidon dey look day... I am sure you have not heard any Nigerian say "Gbalum Boxing Day" because many always peep at that word with our mentality of fighting, so they assume that it is a day set aside to Fight...
Until we explore the spirit of giving, imagine on your Birthday, people will ask you what do you have for them instead for them to send you gifts in appreciation, no matter how little, what interest them is your own spending......
Bar man give everybody here one Bottle each and Plate of Pepper Soup...
Finally, we should develop the ideas of giving, when one is dedicating a house go with something in appreciation, when one is celebrating, a little present is in other, and you that is recipient should stop evaluating gifts base on Price worth, the worth is the remembrance and delivery.
Have a good and blessed rest of the Year..
BAR Man, what is the Bill all about?
94,000 Naira for what?
Come on, are you deaf or dumb?
I said one bottle each and one Plate of Pepper soup, I did not say on my account, I did not say put it on my bill and I did not say, Bottle with content, I said Bottle which means Empty bottle and I did not say Pepper Soup but plate of Pepper soup, meaning the empty plate they use to deliver Pepper soup.
So kindly adjust and place the Bill's on the Window of those who consume them and not on the one who made business suggestion.
Mazi Odera POg heading to AGULERI for Azu Ndu and Nkwu Oku..
