Ndigbo will say "welu EWU manye Ogbiri and welu Ogbiri manye EWU" are same thing (Take a GOAT and tie Him with a Rope or use Rope and tie A GOAT, it same phrase).
Nigeria as a Nation are worried about death brought by Corona, which we Dread because of the gory news it carries across the globe.
All Nations are fighting to end it with Quarantine solutions, which is what we Aped here in Nigeria but the gulf between us and them are World Apart.
Rest of the World has 24 Hours Power supply, they have system that is in place to provide Data, provide clean Water, provide WIFI, provide access to unfiltered and filtered News...
They have a Nation, but bring a contrast with Nigeria, where we don't know the present Location of our Leaders, nor seen anything that makes us to develop hope because we don't have one as we speak.
It is great to stash people at home, so they can't catch and transmit the Virus but have we considered the simple fact that 85% of Nigerians live from hand to mouth?..
Let me explain, 85% of our population survive on what they make daily, they don't have savings because what they make per day is not good enough to take care of the days problem, so the strength to save is there, but the money to save is not or say a Mirage.
Asking them to stay at home without iota of help is like killing them before they meet Mr CORO, so it will get to a time they will be constrainted to do what the Lepers did in the Bible, let's take a peek at the Bible..
2 King 7...
3Now four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the city's gate; and they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die?
4If we say, We will enter the city--then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. So now come, let us go over to the army of the Syrians. If they spare us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
5So they arose in the twilight and went to the Syrian camp. But when they came to the edge of the camp, no man was there.... End of quote.
The Situation is like it was with the 4 Lepers, if they wait in Leper Colony without food because there was Famine in the City that is suppose to give them provisions as Alm, so no alms for them, if they move to City, it is abomination, the Clean will kill them or hunger will kill them, so they decided to enter the camp of the enemies of the City with same conclusions "One thing must kill a Man".
We are now at the precipice of Living Dead, staying at home without Food or hope of Food coming is more tortuous than watching the entire Family die of Hunger... Such Option is what Ndigbo will analyze with "Ira Mbe ji Aku na ikwu Udo".
The Governor of Lagos Sanwo Olu made provision for Food relief which he said, a pack for family of 6, but the people sharing the relief are not just mean but heartless, they will take a pack comprising Tomato Cup of Beans, Rice, Sachet Tomato Paste which ordinarily won't be sufficient for a family of 4 but for the Austerity situation, it can hold Hunger for half a day, but....
That pack is what they offer to a street with 65 Houses and if you should count families living within, it won't be less than 300 and multiple same with humans... They offer them just a Pack, how on earth can they share such?.. May be one smackrel of RICE and one Seed of Bean per house...
The Government have the contacts of Citizens with the Banks with the introduction of BVN, which makes it possible that they can send relief to half of the population and that half will have to be quiet with that consolation, then getting to those without active Bank account will not be such burden, but nothing is in place to alleviate the punishment, it is so because the Well to do are comfortable, they have enough food stashed for them to be having parties for the next 1 year without breaking sweat but they should know that, the hunger is pushing people to the cross of.. IF WE DIE BY CORONA, SO BE IT... It might get to a time, the hungry poor may attack the Rich with Venom and it may bring a chaos and riot.
The Government should do the needful because if this Hunger goes into next week, the first victims might be the securities trying to enforce the laws as people may feel better to die at the hands of a Gun than with Hunger.
Government should send Food relief to Churches, they have the Capacity to do justice to it than those Ekperima without conscience the Government are using presently.
This Sit at home is still possible because there is hope that by next week it will be lifted, the hunger is contained, the anger is bottled but just for a while.
You can control people when there is something to loose, people are scared for thier lives when they know what is at stake but facing a situation that is Hopeless, not even Gun commands fear and, have it in mind that even the Police or Army that you may command to shoot at not exempted from the Hunger.
The best bet is for the Government to quickly find a fast solution that will quench Hunger and relax the tensed mind of the people, then open back Churches so that food relief can be sent thier by those who have enough, that way hope will be curtained with grace.
I speak Minority Opinion and as the Last Born of Mpa Nnukwu, known as Mkpisi Ndi Egede in English Pen of the gods.
