 Re-touching  BUILDING OF FATIMA HOSPITAL, rejoinder to AGUDO insertion by Last Born.

Yesterday after writing an appeal or call it a piece about Oka ETITI of Yesterday, I re-enacted stories of Brotherhood that made OKA ETITI thick then, a brother, former  Deputy PG OKA ETITI Chief AGU UDO, threw a curved one where he said that Fatima Hospital building was Orazurume (Communal effort) ..

Then I have to dug deeper to balance the story, also to dot all the i and cross every T, good a thing my knack for intense research always pay off..

In 1981, when Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, the then Governor of Anambra State comprising Enugwu State of today, Part of Ebonyi and present Anambra, visited OKA ETITI like he visited other towns, he was hosted at the compound of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where FATIMA HOSPITAL is presently standing, but then it was an abandoned project and OKA ETITI is yet to have a Hall, as the present OKA ETITI HALL wasn't built..

So  Governor Jim called Joe Martins to come out and face his People as he wanted to say something to him, but owning to height and age, he was hoisted up a Table, so he can be seen by all.. Governor said that this Boy has done him Solid both in Rangers and as a Governor and deserve to be rewarded. 

Joe was the Speech writer to the Governor, and he was doing a Yeomans job of it, the Governor wanted to pay him back by asking him what he wanted from him before Ndi Oka ETITI, which if it's me, I would've asked for.. (off the Record) but Joe Martins simply turn round and told the Governor and I quote "Sir, this Hospital has been abandoned and we have no place for a better medical treatment, if only the Governor will help and finish it, then the state will partner with Fatima in running it"..end of quote. 

That puts the Governor na Uzo gbalu Ino, as he was sweating on the cage a boy built around him. The Governor decided that Government can't get involved in running Hospitals which includes paying Bills, hiring Doctors and doing other things that consume Government money, so the Governor after his Visit on Thursday was waiting and angling on how to wriggle Government involvement off the deal.

Monday, after that Thursday episode, high powered delegates including CHIEF FRANCIS ILODI "Ezeani Oruefi" who was the Fin Sec of the Hospital Building Commitee, Chief Francis Ezinmuo, the AIU CHAIRMAN ENUGWU BRANCH, Chief Christopher Chukwudum "UmeEzenwammadu"  led the delegates to Government house ENUGWU to see the Governor, when they arrived, they requested to see our Son, Joe Martins (He is not Dike Udo then, he is just Dike onwe ya), who came and ask them what they want and they explained that they don't want Government involvement in managing the Hospital.. 

Just for the Record, the grand Father of Joe Martins was instrumental to bringing Anglican Church to OKA ETITI, but the Denominational preference is discussion for another day.. Moving back on to the issue.. 

Well Joe went to the Governor and relay the message and the Governor was excited that God Azago ya Ekpere, so he asked then into his office and hear them, then He agreed that the Government can't be involved, so he ask them to go and work out the budget that will finish it, equip it and bring it to use, so they sent back draft the Bill including ma Aziza aga eji na Aza UNO, handed same to the Governor .. A total sum of 248,950 Naira.. The Governor wrote a Memo right before them to the tune of 250,000 Naira with excess of 1,050 Naira and mandate DR OKEY UDE who was the Director of Budget to release the fund to Ndi  St Joseph Catholic Church Oka  ETITI, and within 48 Hours it was delivered...Moving on.. 

A minor addition to the Electricity in Oka ETITI and the ways it came..

As the script writer, Joe Martins saw a list submitted for 48 Towns that will benefit of Electrification, which the state is piloting, but our own Town is missing from it, his hand became shaky and he met our own O. F OBI from Umudunu who was the head of service for same Government and ask him why our Town wasn't among the recepients , well the man don't want to fight the dirty political War, so he said he can't fight the powers that be, maybe because of his life that was shaped overseas of his being married to a White, but the news is that he choose not to fight the powers that be to gain his Town what others desired with every fiber in them, leaving Joe the SA and speech writer perplexed and lonely on that Path.

He went back to the list of Towns on second page of the Speech and seen the 48 names again , he simply use Red Pen and put a question mark on number 14 and beside it write OKA ETITI, with the mind that the Governor will query him on such, but the Governor read the Speech and wrote OK on it without checking again the names of the beneficiaries.

Sylvester the Principal secretary seeing the Red Biro and suggestive name by the side, thought it was the Governor who made the corrections and replace the name with OKA ETITI as asserted.

The news were read that evening both on TV and Radio to the chagrin of the Commissioner Nweke Anyigo, the Commissioner for Information whose Town were removed and replaced, the Man knew he was at the Exco where the list was drawn, it was reported to the Governor, who summoned Joe Martins and he own up and explain what happened, the Governor knew that this Dude has beaten him again, the Governor stylishly ask them to leave OKA ETITI where it was smuggled in, and include the removed town as number 49..

That master ploy made the BBC contractor to know that getting things done needs the approval of Joe the SA and they ask him how he want his compensation to be, he said they should reward him by starting the project from OKA ETITI, which they did, and was the reason why they looped the lights to all Schools, health Centers, Halls, Churches and others will take it from there, but Speaker of ANAMBRA house then Honorable Ifeanyi Enemchukwu from OBA didn't find it funny, as he wanted then to start from ALOR in our Zone. 

The Deputy Governor of the state them Engr Roy Umenyi from Uga came to OKA ETITI SOCIAL CLUB on the 24th of September 1981, raising fire and brimstone on how he will tear Joe Martins new Ass for insulting him by making the Electricity project not to start from UGA the home of Deputy Governor, but AKAJIAKU and other Ogaranya Oka ETITI gbanye be Mmiri Oyi promising him how they will use thier hand and kpua our Son afu onu, but the good news was they calmed the situation, ofozie fa Nwa taking action against a great son that brought to us what others can't even dream off.
