Having lived most of my life Overseas, traveled the world on vacations , shopped at World exquisite Malls, then I can tell the difference between a Supermarket and SUPER STORE,judging with Western standard and not most of Geisha and bread shop we call Supermarket in Nigeria, which is understandable because everything about Nigeria represent our Government, sometimes I wonder if truly the gods are crazy only in Africa?
We have in our lands all the Mineral resources which the West tap and made wealth, in return they bring back particles and exchange our senses with it even our Leaders will applaud.
After applauding they Will manage to carry our money to them, store same in their banks out there and came back home to watch us impoverished.
I am even happy that today the EFCC by Magic of the Witches will invade a house with Money Counting machines, break down the doors and start recording how the hauled money from Safe or buried in Sewage and it never occurred to them that we are not that stupid to realise that it all looked like Bollywood not even Nollywood. But come with me for a different whistling with the gods.
In America they have Cosco as Super Store because it deal on retail and Wholesale and they make you believe with price that fits .

The first time I visited the Cream of NIGERIAN SUPER STORE located at JAHI close to BANEX JUNCTION ABUJA , I smelt dexterity in organized business.
The Aroma of the MANNA they bake which we call Bread is enough to take away the Hunger in you and replace it with Multivitamined air, they bake bread like no other and I can bet you, if you have eaten their bread and not hooked, then see the gods in your village to give you back your route taste .
The spacious siting is not only Waooooo, but the serene is something you get if you have street smartness and add crude sense to it (Natural intelligence) .
Not just expnase of land, but creative placing and authoritative structure.
I saw combination of South African setting, American stuffing and ONUICHA flair, that was what gave the place a touch of SHOPPING GIANT,we are talking about NEXT SHOPPING MALL "THE DREAM OF RIGHT SHOPPERS" .
Well, I went into doing my job about it "Investigative Journalism " to understand what makes the place thick, then I discovered they have high volume of turn over and fast sales which makes it impossible to have "about to Expire products" which other places, say Supermarket will call SALES or buy 2 get 3,in all with serious discount to attract patrons that will evacuate the products .
It is only when products are approaching expiration level that the marketers will knock off prices and targeting to get it off the counter, into your homes at discounted prices.
In cause of doing my sniffing around, I also noticed that many agents of darkness enjoy creating difficulties just to tarnish image of the place or cause impediments, I saw a case where a customer came in with CONSUMER PROTECTING AGENCY Personnel and they were red eyed, so when the manager stopped by and wants to know what's the Hullabaloo, it was explained that the customer bought a Ceiling Fan, then forgot the blades in the Shopping Cart, instead to go back and plead for replacement or ask how to solve it, she went to her In-law who is official of the Consumer Agency to complain that NEXT is selling Ceiling FAN without blades, and they went to paint an Evil picture of the Super Store .
I was happy when the Manager ask the Agency surrogate if he asked the customer how she lost the blade and if she have reported to NEXT management or consult them at all over the matter and the issue wasnt resolved ? .
As the Customer and the man he brought opened mouth without answers coming out, to suit the embarrassment, the manager ask the Staff to give her another blade but this time Fix it for her, so she won't come back and explain that it doesn't fit.
Moving on..
I started digging to know why such Investment won't be sited in IGBOLAND, ANAMBRA to be precise and what I discovered shocked me..
The company has Bought on two occasions expanse of Land at ONUICHA to build a beffiting SUPER STORE that will make ONUICHA the Cynosure of all Shoppers, but only to have catalog of troubles while trying to develop same ,both Locally made and state made.
The Company with powers of making Shopping easy and Fun has set up another at RIVERS STATE and it was possible because the state Government got involved in making the deals successful.
This one is sitting at over 11,000 Square meters in PH.
The Rivers state Government made it possible by granting access road, and business friendly condition to NEXT INTERNATIONAL which is what other states should do to attract such business.
States should not worry about investing, just encourage them by giving conducive environment ,if they ask for money they should go into Cow grazing business, just plain friendly conditions like we gave to foreign Stores.

UPDATE ON POLICE INVESTIGATIONS AND TRAIL OF PERPETRATORS OF THE OFFA BANKS ROBBERY IN KWARA STATE ON 5th APRIL, 2018.
· Police Arrest Twelve (12) Additional Suspects in connection with the Offa Banks Robbery of 5th April, 2018.
· Recovers Handsets, Ipads and SIM cards belonging to victims of the robbery.
SUSPECTS
i) Adegoke Shogo 29yrs – Arrested in Offa
ii) Kayode Opadokun 35yrs – Arrested in Offa
iii) Kazeem Abdulrasheed 36yrs - Arrested in Offa
iv) Azeez Abdullahi 27yrs - Arrested in Offa
v) Alexander Reuben 39yrs – Arrested on the 11th April, 2018 in Lagos
vi) Jimoh Isa 28yrs – Arrested on the 11th April, 2018 in Lagos

Consequent on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni, deployment of high-powered Police Investigation Team, Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), Three (3) units of Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Anti-Robbery equipment to Kwara State to carryout discreet investigation into the banks robbery, prevent further attacks and bring perpetrators to justice; the high-powered Police Investigation Team deployed in synergy with the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department have arrested the Nine (9) above mentioned Armed Robbers directly involved in the Banks Robbery and attack on a Police Station in Offa, Kwara State.
2. The Police teams engaged in massive raids of identified criminal spots/flashpoints, stop and search operations, visibility and confidence building patrols, intelligence gathering which led to the arrest of the suspects. Some of the arrest also involved serious exchange of gun fire between the Police and the suspects in their various hideouts.
3. The following are the suspects arrested and have admitted to the various criminal roles they played in the banks robbery attacks and are also assisting Police investigation into the incident.
i) Adegoke Shogo 29yrs Native of Offa Kwara State, he was arrested in Offa after the bank robbery and the attack on the Police Station. He is drug baron and also an Indian Hemp dealer in Offa Kwara State. According to intelligence gathered from cultivated and reliable informant, he is alleged to be one of the sponsors of the robbery attack and the Police Station in Offa. He has made useful statements to the roles he played in the armed robbery.
ii) Kayode Opadokun 35yrs Native of Offa Kwara State, He was found out to have been released from Prison Three (3) months ago after Serving only 8months of his sentence years for Armed Robbery, Notorious Armed Robber and confirmed Gang member of the Offa Bank Robbers. A Barrette pistol and six (6) rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him. He has admitted to the criminal roles he played in the Offa Banks robbery.
iii) Kazeem Abdulrasheed 36yrs Native of Offa Kwara State, A Gang member from whom a Victim’s phone was found. He was arrested in Offa.
iv) Azeez Abdullahi 27yrs Native of Offa Kwara State, Gang member from whom a Victim’s Phone and SIM Cards were recovered.
v) Alexander Reuben 39yrs Native of Isoko LGA Delta state, He is a Notorious, Deadly and Hardened Bank robber from whom GMPGs, Rocket launchers and Several Rifles were recovered in 2015, He was released from Prison in December 2017. He was arrested on the 11th April, 2018 in Lagos.
vi) Jimoh Isa 28yrs Native of Okene Kogi State indicted by Technical intelligence generated on the Bank Robbers. He was arrested on the 11th April, 2018 in Lagos.
4. Three000 (3) suspects namely Azeez Salawudeen 20yrs, Adewale Popoola 22yrs and Adetoyese Muftau 23yrs from whom Two (2) phones and SIM cards belonging to victims were recovered have also made confessional statements admitting to the various roles they played in the commission of the crime.
5. (i) Aminu Ibrahim 18yrs – Arrested in Ilorin,
ii) Richard Buba Terry 23yrs and
iii) Peter Jaba Kuunfa 25yrs
These three (3) suspects in whose possession another Beretta pistol and Fourteen (14) rounds of live ammunitions were recovered were arrested in connection with the Offa bank robbery. They have previously been investigated and charged to court for armed robbery and cultism. They have made confessional statements admitting to the various criminal roles they played in the recent bank robbery in Offa.
6. All the suspects during investigation confessed to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crime, however, investigation is being intensified to arrest other suspects still at large and bring them to justice.
7. The Nigeria Police Force once again deeply commiserates with the Government and People of Kwara State, most especially the people of Offa and the families of the victims. The Force will leave no stone unturned in unravelling this dastard act and bring all those responsible to justice. The present reality - encapsulated in the dynamics of the world economy -- has made the imperative of investing in Nigeria more acute, anecdotal and seemingly tragic. As a principal participant, my extensive observations reveals that no genuine investor has had memorable tales about Nigeria at the point they were harassed by suffocating procedures, though the returns are often commensurate to the effort. For our collective sakes, we must deliberately render our environment investors-friendly – a hallmark of productive-based economies.
The Nigeria Diaspora have been seeking ways to invest meaningfully in the country, but express conflicting concerns exists: would they invest in a country where they are ostensibly unappreciated or pursue a bleak alternative in a country, which forms part of the African mosaic recently categorized by Donald Trump with a very colourful expletive?
On the Paradox of Diaspora Investment in our country; first, Nigeria Diaspora remittances, estimated at about US$23 billion annually, are second only to oil as our source of national revenue. Most of these remittances are informal and uncategorized. Yet, we cannot discount their value-added to nation-building if properly leveraged; what with our huge demographic & consumer market!

To any investor, "the first weakness or challenge that Nigeria confronts him with is a stability deficit reflected in the militant insurgencies, kidnapping, and periodic eruptions of violence in various parts of the country - all which pose a threat to political stability". The fear of red tape and unbending bureaucracy tends to keep investors at bay, even as policy vacillations and whimsical ad-hoc import prohibitions can wreak havoc on well-laid plans. As Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala admitted, "ad-hoc import prohibitions and waivers illustrate the damage vested interests can do to the overall economy".Nevertheless, as a business man, I know that every investment involves a modicum of risk; and it cannot be any different in Nigeria. Diaspora investing will have some risks.
As Nigeria seeks to look beyond oil and its expansive value-chain, there are other sectors of the economy that are robust and making progress. These include Entertainment, notably Nollywood & music; and fashion. Hotels/restaurants and hospitality are expanding, but need added impetus for a holistic development of tourism. Of course, there are areas where there exist and will always be cross-cutting niche sectors where government, consortia and individuals can partner, under Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). These include: independent power generation and alternative energy, light rail & other mass transit systems, information technology, healthcare, and food production & preservation technology. Above all, infrastructure remains critical.
Nigeria has a 7-million housing deficit against a burgeoning population; the aviation sector is not doing very well; our GSM telephony system is operational & vibrant, but we are totally bereft of a land-line system; and the waste management system is a crying shame. These are huge sectors waiting to be tapped.
Why is Diaspora investment critical despite prevailing challenges and concerns? We must appreciate the cliché: "There's no free lunch". As attractive as seems to seek Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) over Diaspora investment, there are pitfalls. As we are told, "Aid has failed broadly, and evidence of its failure abounds" and "Based on false comprehension of globalization, we criss-cross the globe canvassing for foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and foreign technical assistance not minding that foreign capital is neither given as a favour nor charity".
After ranking consistently among the top-three destinations for FDIs between 2004 and 2014, when "yield-hungry investors targeted the oil, gas, real estate, communications and consumers sectors of Africa's largest economy," capital in-flow into Nigeria has been dwindling. The phenomenon, which represents a unique investment opportunity for Diaspora investing, is not peculiar to Nigeria. Whereas Nigeria's FDIs fell by 34%, those for South Africa fell by 69%; Australia 44% and Canada 17% during the corresponding period.
Fear, especially of taking business risks, can kill ideas, inspirations and accomplishments. The world is facing halting economic instability, and social & political challenges. Though every nation has its peculiarities, problems beget initiatives. Innovative strategies, pursued keenly, soon enough become the norm and profit-makers in other nations; while boosting the economy in the originating nation. As new opportunities are researched, identified and assessed, diverse entrepreneurships become vital tools to implement innovated strategies. The role of entrepreneurs is to put heads together and boost economic activities by taking risks.
Besides the business climate, there are other critical factors any investor would consider to determine an enabling environment. These include: power supply, road infrastructure, and availability of water, land, raw materials, labour, market & security; the latter of which includes security of lives, investment & property. The ability to overcome these challenges goes a long way to attracting and keeping investors. Some States, beyond offering deals in form of tax relief and related concessions, also invest in equity as a show of good faith.
Though out of government for over four years, I have been analyzing public policies and governance methods that work and those that do not add value. If Anambra State where I served for eight years is a worthy case study, I should dwell on it briefly.
One of the five South-Eastern States in Nigeria, Anambra is characterized by its industrious and entrepreneurial people. As Governor, the first challenge was to bring some sanity into the dysfunctional political institutions in the State and link them to global realities. To create focus and measurable bench-marks, we adopted the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which we integrated into our home-grown Anambra State Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS) -- the basic philosophy being "No Community Is Left Behind". ANIDS enabled the State Government to plan carefully, budget properly, implement the plan and encourage participation and feed-back from the communities and other stakeholders where various projects were being executed. The Strategy also facilitated seamless inter-facing with our Development Partners, and foreign & domestic investors.
With ANIDS, planning, budgeting and request for investment became needs-based and demand-driven. We undertook poverty mapping for a Poverty Profile of the State, which made our budgets results-based and investment-oriented. We amplified subsistent agriculture with investments in mechanization; and created a network of access roads to the farming communities, which enabled local farmers to evacuate their products and boost their incomes.
Even as capital-intensive investments are desirable for wealth creation and employment generation, we also supported our small & middle enterprises (SMEs) and provided counterpart-funding of some foreign investments. We applied accountability, transparency and a very heavy dose of frugality in managing the State resources and investors’ interests.
We built strong institutions, managed & monitored projects efficiently, tackled infrastructure, enhanced security, minimized instability, provided skilled labour, developed & expanded domestic markets, and patronized our investors. Among others, we ensured that vehicles for our security teams, secondary schools, MDAs and traditional rulers were procured from Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Nnewi.SABMiller Brewery in Onitsha, from South Africa, had an envisaged turn-around time of seven years, but got there in three years, due to our large market.
Nigerian States are competing to attract investors; many of them with designated areas, including industrial and business parks for investors who require land. Some operate one-stop-shops for processing investors' requirements; and Americanand European type shopping malls are springing up without displacing the open markets. What is essential is to match the needs of the respective States with what the investors offer.
The potentials of Diaspora investment is Nigeria are boundless. There are challenges, but this is the best time to make that foray before the competition gets stiff. China is fully on board in Africa. As Diaspora investors, you know the language, culture and terrain.
Bring home the investments; Nigeria needs them.

The programme of events signed by Lord Marland of Odstock shows that Obi, currently one of the most-sought-after speakers in Africa, will speak on "What Can We Do to Encourage SMEs to Trade and Invest Confidently across The Commonwealth?”
The former Governor is expected “to contribute (his) experience and leadership in this area” during the session to be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre on 17/04/18.
“The Forum,” according to the organisers, “is a truly global event, bringing together Heads of Government, Ministers, and senior business leaders from around the world. It will provide a valuable opportunity for high level dialogue on trade and investment between business and government leaders from across the Commonwealth and beyond.
“Organised by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, working with the UK Government and in partnership with the City of London, it will be a unique gathering of global leaders. The event will be held across three iconic London venues: the Guildhall, Mansion House and the QEII Conference Centre.”
The organisers described the Forum as “an opportunity to identify areas in which the Commonwealth can help its member countries to access modern financial services, harness technology and innovation, attract inward investment, and to improve sustainable business practices, particularly through public-private sector collaboration.”

Anambra the glowing of the groin

Anambra has seen it all, the days evolved and what you can't take away from the state is Onye kwuruoto si kwatue ya (unsettling any one that stands) .
I watched the Political buccaneers, the wannabe Political Pullers and those with over blown ego gathered to urinate on the giant stride of OKWUTE NDIGBO prior to last Gubernatorial , they did everything possible to wreck his political future and they did it in favor of Gov Akpokue..
The deal is done, the pendulum swing toward their heart content and in their mind, they have caught a political Neophyte in WILLIE OBIANO and for that they set the stage for total control of the state .
They have already made wish list and factual list of who gets what in the brand New cabinet, they have lined up the gauntlet to chop of the Political balls of OBIANO, so they can prance about as the OGBUE OKWALU AYA, but as faith will have it, the man they wanted to cage seems to have gotten back his Witt's and senses once he despatched OBATA OSU to the Senate and also draw him a heavy line which marks the Gray areas and no crossing boundary.
He drew his own list and choose his own and that is triggering a war that may become crisis, if not well difused .

We know and agree that Baba has tried but illness weaved with old age played a certain role in making it impossible for him to met the campaign promises and general expectations, also couple with the fact that the President will like to vacate the stage as the Ovation is traceable and within argumentative level.
Having made my point on the above fact, let me move straight to the begging issue that traumatized the minds of the people...

What makes it childish and most disgusting is the repulsive fact that when he was caught by Senator Manager and was admonished for plagiarism, instead to suck his Thumb in apology, he spent over 40 Million Naira of Constituency allowance to put fully paid advertorial on TELEVISION NEWS, Newspapers and other media events, so they keep reporting that he Sponsored a Bill, making me to wonder why it was only his episode worth reporting?
Have they ever reported any other Senate Bills?
Why should he waste his own constituency allowance just to lie that he sponsored a Bill?
Even if he sponsored one, was he not the one who said that South East had no voice in the Senate that he is going there to become the Voice?
Moving on after the digression ..
Now having looked at the clowns who never created wealth or managed one created by others , they never can point to what they have done right in their life, suddenly they want to be given a nation that is already in Coma to manage, the question will be , what do they want to do with it?
Bury it or amputate it?
Why not give it to the man who has shown that he have what it takes to rescue, restore and ressurect even a dead economy ?
