Setting things right..

On Obi/Obiano’s roads by Valentine Obienyem

“You must always have a lot of potholes during the rainy season, all the more so when the rains are very heavy and daily, as this year. Interestingly, most of the holes on our roads constructed are those on the roads by Peter Obi because of the terrible quality. Obi, by the way, has just hired 50 jobless people as internet warriors (or e-rats, as Oby Ezekwesili calls them) just to scandalise the Willie Obiano administration.”

C Don Adinuba

Though the above article was clearly indicated to have been forwarded by the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Mr. C Don Adinuba, I do not know who actually wrote it. It is possible he wrote it, sent it out and continues to forward it. Indeed, he has forwarded it to countless social media platforms. I have also seen it on the wall of Abuchi Onwumelu as well as those of other aides to Obiano.

The momemt Gov. Willie Obiano won, I made it public that I would remain unconcerned as to what he does with Anambra State, good or bad. I have remained faithful to my vow. Apart from campaign write-up, I challenge anybody to show what I have written about Obiano - nothing!

If you have been following events on social media, you would have noticed how obsessed Obiano’s aides are with Obi and by extension Val. Some reported that I posted pics of an aircraft they saw me snapping at Enugu airport even when I was not in Enugu that day. Some had gone into the rings, with hands ready to strike Val,   but I refused to join  in the ring even when I know that with just one blow from my fist, the type one of my teachers we called “Mekano”  used to call “tysonic uppercut”, I will knock the featherweight down. He called me names severally, called Anambra our common father even when he is not from Anambra and Val intent on committing Patricide.

I have refused to cross swords with them because it is not necessary. I do not want to bring myself so down as to impugn in my integrity. I am only replying this because it came from a Commissioner.

In the article under reference, the Honourable  Commissioner wrote (forwarded?) that Obi recruited 50 e-rats,  may be he is the consultant handling it for Obi. It is still less than 2000 aides/e-rats. He also lamented the many  potholes on roads constructed by Obi.

Let me name some roads Obi built and challenge them to show us potholes on those  roads.  Anyone with completed in bracket, was merely completed by Obi after inheriting it from his predecessors.

1. Igboukwu-Ezenifite-Umuchu- Umunze road
(Completed)
2. Awka-Etiti-Isseke road - ( Completed)
3. Akwa-Amawbia dual carriage road
4. Old Nkpor-Abagana-Awka road
5. Adazi-Obeledu-Akwaeze-Igboukwu road
6. Igbarian-University road
7. Ichi roads
8. Nkwo Okija
9 Otuocha road
10. Umunze Anam - Mmiata
11 Nkweleezunaka by pass
12. Over 30 roads within  Onitsha GRA
13 . Over 10 roads within Onitsha Habour industrial area
12. 6- lane dual carriage road, from Head bridge
to Upper Iweka
13 Upper Iweka-Umunya
14 The Nkpor flyover can even carry trains unlike the good-for-demolition three flyovers Obiano built in Awka that cannot withstand the weight of big buses.
15. Obosi-bypass
16. Awka road
17 Oguta road
18. Old Oba-Nnewi  road
19. Mmiri John road ( Ojoto)
20 creek road
Etc, etc

In almost 6 years, they are busy lamenting potholes they cannot even fix. In developed countries, are roads not maintained on daily basis?

Even those lamenting cannot show us 4 roads outside Aguleri that Obiano started and completed since he became Governor. They are experts in pointing out flaws they invented for Obi.

Even roads  Obi awarded and left money for their completion were so badly done that some developed potholes even during their construction under Gov. Obiano

Here are some of the roads
1. The Ngozika end of Abakiliki street Awka
2. The small stretch of road between Ekwueme square and the State Secretariat.
3. The dual carriage road from Amawbia junction passing through Government House. It is a shame he isn’t completing that road in 8 years. A road Obi set aside 8 billion Naira for its completion . Check the portion he built, they are dotted with potholes.
4. Ozubulu portion of Afor ilo-Afor Ukpor road
5  Udeaja Bus stop- Afia Nkwo Ozubulu road. Obi completed the gutters, the laterite, he only tarred some portion that have gone terribly bad
6 . Eke Ihembosi- Ntu road
7. The little culvert  near Uche Ekwunife’s residence, which local masons can construct very well, has been re-built  4 times within a year.
8.  The areas around the Amawbia flyover is in a supremely terrible state.

Have you been on Anambra roads anytime it was raining? All the roads are flooded because of a the abandonment of routine, yearly de-silting of culverts. When all the culverts are blocked under Obiano, why would the roads not develop even gullies?

The only road constructed (started and completed) by Obiano that is good are over 30 roads in Aguleri. Is he deliberately punishing other parts of the state?

Where then lies  the justification for Hon. commissioner’s post against Mr. Peter Obi? If these people are incapable of gratitude, they should at least leave Obi alone.
