Right of Reply on COOU VC ANNOUNCEMENT... From a concerned Insider..
"On the matter of appointing a Substantive Vice Chancellor for Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, it is important to set the records straight for the sake of posterity.
Professor Odinkalu, the Pro-Chancellor set himself up for ridicule by going solo and relegating Council members to irrelevance.
Only him designed and scripted the job advert that announced the said vacant seat of the Vice Chancellor. The standards were his creation. Note that in the reckless pursuit of his personal agenda, he evaded the requirement for a candidate of no less than 10 years as a Professor. Some of them have never even worked as even HODs.
As if that was not enough, only him inaugurated the Search Committee, the Search Commitee report never passed through the Council.
Again, only him inaugurated the Selection Committee, developed their terms of reference. The same him and him alone developed the interview template and only him took the same report of the Selection Committee to the Visitor. The Selection committee did not for a moment report to the Council. Little wonder the Governor snubbed him and directed him to submit the so-called report to the Commissioner for Education. Both the Commissioner for Education and the Pro-Chancellor were sold to the script of foisting their whims upon the university.
Their candidate was the same person that led a gang war that disrupted the university Senate meeting that was convened in December, 2024 for the purpose of electing Senate reps in the Selection Committee. To avert disciplinary actions against their gross misconduct, the same candidate and his gang dragged the university to court praying for protection of their fundamental human rights. The very language of the Pro-Chancellor.
Can your university overlook pending court matters and consider such candidates viable for the position of a Vice Chancellor of the same university they are in court with?
Whoever that goes to equity shall go with clean hands. Never buy the story of any self-acclaimed human rights activist until such persons have tasted power.
Thank God Mr Governor knew better and acted in the best interest of good conscience, equity, justice and fairness".
